A Palestinian family returns to the house they left - now given to an Israeli family. One of the daughters turns into an Owl, the fathers play chess with the remains of tragedies, and the mothers bond. Is this peace?

Monica Raymond is a playwright and poet, and her work has been recognized by the Massachusetts Cultural Council in both fields. Her play, THE OWL GIRL, won the Peacewriting Award, the Castillo Theater prize in political playwriting, a Clauder Competition Gold Medal, and was nominated by Portland Stage for the Susan Smith Blackburn Award for the best play in English by a woman. A TO Z won the Ruby Lloyd Apsey Award for plays about race/ethnicity. Musical theater work includes songs for Joe Chaikin’s DISABILITY PROJECT,  BUNRAKU  BAG LADY with Dana Maiben at Smith College, and PAPER OR PLASTIC, a short opera on ecological themes (composer, Charles Turner) at the American Repertory Theater’s Outside the Box Festival. She has been a MacDowell Colony Fellow and a Jerome Fellow at the Playwrights’ Center, and has taught writing and interdisciplinary arts at Harvard, CUNY, and the Boston Museum School.
