Playwright David Rush

Playwright David Rush

Summer Night, WITh Unicorn*

by David Rush

Magical realism in the Chicago night as force-of-nature Estelle whisks Warren to a gaggle of unexpected spiritual guides. When the sun rises, who will say the Kaddish?

His plays have won and/or placed in national contests andreceived a variety of awards, including Chicago Jeff’s and a Los Angeles Drama Logue. He has had workshops and readings at Utah Shakespeare Festival, Odyssey, Dayton Playhouse, Orlando Shakespeare, Abindgon, and others. The greatest thing about David’s sweet adult fable is it’s range of characters - each deeply seated in their own faith and spiritual traditions - and at all times, each one chooses to respect different beliefs as vital and necessary. We could all learn a lot from Seymour the Buddhist giraffe.
