2022 Jewish Playwriting Contest
Audrey Lang (she/her/hers) is a lesbian Jewish playwright born, raised, and based in New York City. After being a semi-finalist for the Jewish Plays Project contest last year with Lily Ineffable, she is thrilled to be a finalist this year and have this opportunity to work with the JPP. Audrey's play You Have To Promise received a developmental workshop and reading in the 2020 Pride Plays, directed by Jenna Worsham. She has developed her play Birdie and Cait and the Book of Life in writers' groups with Original Idiots and The Workshop Theater, and her play alex getting better has been produced at schools and youth theatre companies across the United States—in addition to being recorded as a podcast episode by The Garden of Voices. Audrey has additionally developed work as a member of Eden Theater Company's Playwrights Lab and as part of Theatre503's Rapid Write Response program. She has a monologue from You Have To Promise and a short play, who's mom and who's mama, published in anthologies with Smith & Kraus. Audrey is an alumna of Ithaca College (B.A. Theatre Studies), where she was a winner of the IC New Play Incubator Golden Egg Award, as well as MCC Theater Youth Company's Playwriting Lab and SPACE on Ryder Farm.
