Menorah

Georgia converted for her husband. 19 years later, he ran off with the star of the community theater in her Bergen County, NJ town. Now, she and her "best Jewish lady friend" are on a quest to get the town to put up a menorah right next to the Christmas Tree - if only Judah Maccabee would stop sensually ravaging her in her dreams.

Georgia's son Eli meets a Palestinian American girl - while they both wait for treatment for Chron's disease at the Gatroenteroligists office. It's like-at-first--sight, especially when he hears she's the lead singer of a scream-rock band that protests the Israeli occupation.

Mayor Daniel (Dae Hee), an Evangelical Korean widower, only wants peace and harmony - in his town and in his budding romance with Georgia. (But why does he look suspiciously like Judah?)

Funny and provocative, and very well written. Reminds me of Annie Baker.
